Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald Kills School Choice Expansion In State
Republican Speaker of the State Assembly and current Republican nominee for US Senate Jeff Fitzgerald just oversaw a vote today in the Assembly that effectively killed expansion of school choice beyond Milwaukee and Racine. I have had a hard time trying to figure this one out. Why would Republicans want to limit school choice? If school choice works in Milwaukee why wouldn't it work in La Crosse or anywhere else? Why is Scott Walker going to sign this bill? I can only guess and say they don't want to upset the teacher unions more. At this point I don't think it is possible to win any good graces with the teacher unions. They passed this on a voice vote. What a cowardly way to protect themselves from being on record for this bill. The Republicans in the state house sold us out today.
