Husband of Judge That Ordered A Block Of Budget Bill Is A Financial Backer Of Wisconsin 14

I guess we shouldn't be surprised by this, but it turns out the judge that ordered a block of  Gov Walker's budget bill is married to a big financial backer of the Wisconsin 14.
[Madison, Wis.]  Dane County Judge Maryann Sumi, who recently over-stepped her jurisdiction to order a temporary block on the Governor’s budget repair bill, may have had motivation to wrongly interfere with the state’s legislative process.
A search of public campaign finance records reveal Sumi’s husband, Carl Sinderbrand, has given thousands of dollars to liberal candidates over the past twenty years, including to members of the infamous “Wisconsin – 14,” Democrat Senators Jim Holperin, Robert Wirch, and Dave Hansen.  Additionally, it was reported Sunday that Sumi’s son worked as a political operative for the AFL-CIO and SEIU.
Sumi’s far-left family background and family financial stake in the careers of Democrat Senators are likely to make objective observers question her impartiality – and good judgment - when ruling on the case.  Mark Jefferson, Executive Director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin, said the latest bizarre ruling to come out of Madison suggests that Dane County judges are more interested in advancing the Democrat agenda than they are in following the law.
“It sure looks as though we can add her to the list of partisan Madison elected officials who will do anything to obstruct the budget repair bill and appease their Democratic base, regardless of the law,” says Mark Jefferson, Executive Director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin.  “The legislature acted in strict accordance with the law in passing the budget repair bill, and we’re confident that this clear overreach will be overturned.”
Senate rule 93, supported by two current Democrat state Senators, requires only that meetings in Special Session be posted on the legislative bulletin board, as was done prior to the Conference Committee convening.

Call For Ending Of Death Threats and Vandalism Against Sen Dan Kapanke Met With Skepticism By Recall Group

Recall Dan Kapanke supporter Brian Bridgeforth posted a comment on the Recall Dan Kapanke Facebook page calling for civility and an end to the threats and vandalism against Kapanke. His comment was immediately followed by other comments from people questioning the accuracy of the reports of threats and vandalism against Kapanke reported in the La Crosse Tribune. I have posted below the screen shots from the Facebook group detailing the conversation. Interesting that some members of the recall group believe the threats are fake, and being used to gin up sympathy for Kapanke.

La Crosse City Council Poised to Raise Residents Water Bill's By 32%

The La Crosse Tribune reports that the city council considering a proposal to raise resident's water bill by 32%. Your water bill would go up on average by $15 a month. This fee/tax hike is necessary so the city can spend more money on "capital projects" without borrowing according to Mark Johnson, city water and sewer utility manager.
$3.6 million three years ago to less than $1 million. Those reserves allow the utility to fund capital projects without borrowing, Johnson said.
Johnson say the city can raise 1.2 million in revenue from this rate hike. Why does the city need more revenue? Never mind that this "revenue" is not necessary to continue to provide water services for the city. The "revenue is  necessary for the city to continue to spend money it doesn't have. This is the problem with government. They can't get enough of our money! We need to remind our city council members that the city doesn't have a revenue problem, but it has a spending problem. You can email all city council members by going to this link here .

Madison Teacher Caught Using School Email To Bash Scott Walker and Advocate For The Election Of JoAnne Kloppenburg To WI Supreme Court

LaCrosseWatchDog obtained this email a Madison school teacher Magdalene Ritchie sent from her school email account advocating for the election of JoAnne Kloppenburg for WI Supreme Court. She goes on in her email to bash Scott Walker. She is an 8th grade Social Studies Teacher at Toki Middle School. Her number is 608-204-4878. The main school number to complain is 608-204-4740.  Principal's name is: Nicole Schaefer.

Hopefully this will alert all of our citizens to help in the effort to recall Walker and his fellow extremist. If we want to stop the tyranny cast a vote for for Kloppenburg in the Supreme court race. Walker lied to his people and he continues to hurt the Middle class and Public Schools. He cannot win. He must go. Get involved. Don't let him do to Madison what he did to Milwaukee.118 million in breaks for big business, 900 million taken from public schools. Who wants to move to a state where public schools are destroyed and the quality of life is compromised for all but the wealthy. The pain to small local businesses hasn't even begun. Sorry to say, but thats what happens when your gov is in  the back pockets of the very rich. Such a sad sad day for our state. We must overcome.

Marinette Mayor Investigated For Assault Charges Denies Recall Petitioners Access To City Hall

Marinette Mayor Robert Harbick has denied recall organizers of Senator Dave Hansen access to city hall in order to circulate recall papers. His stated reason for not allowing them access is simply he doesn't believe in recalls.
"The real reason is, I don't believe what their doing," Harbick said. "When you elect a person, let him do his job, give him his term to do it, how you get rid of him is don't vote for him next time, OK.
So never mind that a recall election is perfectly legal. If your mayor doesn't like the idea of a recall he can use his power as mayor to try and prevent it from happening? The mayor stated that he has a non partisan stance, but when you read what he says about Senator Hansen he sounds more like a partisan supporter.
"Hansen had every legal right to go to Illinois," he said. "I don't think it's right, don't get me wrong, I think he's a good senator, but I'm non-partisan.
"Hansen did a lot of stuff for Marinette last year. We got thousands of dollars because of him, because he took care of his district. If they want to recall him, and I don't think they should, I think they ought to let him finish his two years left in the office - and if you don't want him, don't vote for him."
It should be noted that Mayor Harbick has been investigated for assault charges against a FEMALE city counsel member.
Upon entering the mailroom, she was trailed closely by Harbick, who - according to the complaint - "started to verbally harass me.""I stated 'I could be there and he couldn't tell me what to do,'" Kaufman wrote. "Mayor Harbick then started swearing at me and grabbed my upper (right) arm and tried to pull me out of the office, but I pulled back. He then let go. I stepped up to him - toe to toe - pointed my finger at his nose, but not touching it and said 'You don't swear at me, you don't use vulgarity and you don't lay a hand on me and I warned you about this before.'"He turned around and told (the two office employees) that 'they are to not ever allow Shirley Kaufman into the mailroom again,'" Kaufman continued in the statement. "He then walked out of the room."

Recall Organizers of Senator Jim Holperin Get Harassed and Bullied By Union Thugs As Police Stand By And Watch

Recall organizer Kim Simac said this about events that took place at  a recall rally for Senator Jim Holperin this weekend.   Please watch the video below for more details.
Kim Simac says:
March 12, 2011 at 8:21 am

The destruction of our petitions is a Felony and the Merrill police did nothing to help. I hope the next time we have a petition signing we can get a little bit more seperation between the two sides. It would be safer.

Information On Recalling Four Of The Most Vulnerable Members Of The FleeBagging 14

Below are links to four different websites setup in order to organize the recall effort of the four most vulnerable democratic senators who fled the Wisconsin to Illinois to avoid having to vote on the budget repair bill. Most likely those reading this website don't live in the four districts listed below, but maybe you have friends or family members that  live in those districts. You can direct them to those websites listed below.

Another example of police crossing the line and using their status as police officers to push their political agenda. Folks in the military are banned from publicly taking politically stances while serving in the military. Shouldn't cops be held to similar standards? The cop seen in the video was protesting in the capital, telling everyone he was speaking as a police officer. For more on the police union bully tactics and this officer seen in the video go here.

Campbell Police Block Off Street Enabling Union Bullies (Cops and Teachers) To Harass Dan Kapanke Outside His House After Just Receiving Death Threats

Dictionary Definition of Harass: Subject to aggressive pressure or intimidation.

Aren't the cops supposed to enforce law and order?  Why are the police closing off an entire street, therefore enabling the protesters to harass someone outside their private residence, and also impede traffic flow? Was it a wise decision for the police to assist in a protest at the home of a politician who has just received death threats? Also police stated that people have been throwing nails on Kapanke's driveway and continuously honking their horn as they drive by his house.  Maybe because police don't want to cross the "thin blue line." Outside of Kapanke's home protesting was an off duty Onalaska Police Officer Lisa Gerbig.  News Channel 8 incorrectly reported that Gerbig is a La Crosse Police Officer. One protesting teacher Jon Morschhauser (Longfellow Middle School) admitted that what they were doing "might be viewed as a little intrusive."  This another example of how the police have neglected their duty to enforce the law with the protesters in Madison and throughout the state. Lets compare the police action in dealing with the union protesters to the police action taken against the LaCrosseWatchodog last Oct. for attempting to film a public debate held at UWL. One LaCrosseWatchdog blogger was arrested and fined while another threatened with arrest.

Can you imagine the outrage there would have been from the media if the TEA party would have protested outside Ron Kind's house on French Island after his vote for Obamacare?  I can't envision the French Island Cops making it easy for TEA party protesters to harass Ron Kind outside his home, especially if he would have just received a death threat like Kapanke received. I guess you can't expect to be treated equal by the police when you don't agree with them politically. Police Officers have one of the most powerful positions in society and should remain above politics. Can Dan Kapanke supporters expect to treated fairly from the cops? Are they more likely to be pulled over if they have a Dan Kapanke bumper sticker on their car?

Dan Kapanke gave an interview with FoxNews as the protesters were outside his house.

Unions Planning Protest Of Senator Dan Kapanke's House On French Island

From Chris Muller of CouleeConservative.
Today, there is going to be a protest at Kapanke's house from 3:30pm til 5:30. They are going to be dressed in black as if it is a funeral.
In addition, the school near Copeland Park is letting students out early (2:00pm) so they can march to the Logger's office and then to Copeland Park to protest the cuts in education. Can someone video these people?

Wisconsin Police Officer's Union Sends Letter Threatening Businesses With Boycott

Shouldn't Cops be against bullying? I always thought the men who where badges were supposed to be non political and treat everyone equal before the law. Well folks, here is a link to a letter that was sent to many businesses by the police and fire fighters unions in WI demanding that they publicly denounce Gov Scott Walker or else they will be BOYCOTTED! So how does this work? The people that we pay to protect the public and their property from criminals is threating to publicly boycott businesses that don't fall in line with their politics. Are the businesses that refuse to sub come to the threats made by law enforcement going to receive the same police protection that the pro union businesses receive? Here are some of the excerpts from the police union threat.
The undersigned groups would like your company to publicly oppose Governor
Walker’s efforts to virtually eliminate collective bargaining for public employees in
Wisconsin. While we appreciate that you may need some time to consider this
request, we ask for your response by March 17. In the event that you do not
respond to this request by that date, we will assume that you stand with
Governor Walker and against the teachers, nurses, police officers, fire fighters,
and other dedicated public employees who serve our communities.
In the event that you cannot support this effort to save collective bargaining,
please be advised that the undersigned will publicly and formally boycott the
goods and services provided by your company. However, if you join us, we will
do everything in our power to publicly celebrate your partnership in the fight to
preserve the right of public employees to be heard at the bargaining table.

This Is What Thugocracy Looks Like

I have heard the protesters repeatedly say "this is what democracy looks like." I couldn't agree more. Democracy is mob rule.

Video! NPR Exec Rips TEA Party As Racist; Admits NPR Would Be Better Off Without Federal Funding

James O'Keefe who uncovered the ACORN corruption through hidden camera investigation, has come out with a new video exposing an NPR executive who has some interesting thoughts on the TEA Party, Republicans, and need for federal funding of NPR.

Ron Kind and Redistricting

The Washington Post today did an interesting story about how the WI GOP may redraw the state's congressional districts. The short is it looks like Ron Kind's 3rd district will stay the same or become more democratic. This is because the state GOP may want to give Republican Rep. Sean Duffy some of Ron Kind's more Republican counties to the north and in exchange for Duffy's more democratic counties. This is would help make Duffy's district safer to hold on to, but would make getting rid of Ron Kind harder. The GOP seems to be content with staying at the GOP's 5/3 advantage within the state Congressional delegation.
After failing to unseat Rep. Ron Kind (D-Wis.) in 2010, the GOP continues to hold out hope that it can do so in the coming years. (The seat also may come open as Kind is regularly mentioned as a potential statewide candidate.) And meanwhile, Republican Reps. Tom Petri andPaul Ryan represent marginal districts that could be vulnerable if they leave them at any point over the next decade.
Republicans could shore up Duffy, Ribble and Ryan, but it would probably mean making Petri's and Kind's districts more Democratic. In other words, it's going to be difficult to make this a map on which Republicans can hold any more than the five seats they currently hold.
First, though, the big one: Duffy's seat.
This district leans slightly Democratic and went 56 percent forPresident Obama in 2008. Long held by Democratic Rep. David Obey, it's shown a willingness to vote consistently for Democrats.
If Republicans really want to shore up Duffy's 7th district, it probably comes at the expense of improving their chances to win in Kind's southwestern 3rd district and Petri's central 6th district.
(To keep track of all the districts, be sure to check out the congressional map here.)
The GOP could move some Democratic parts of Duffy's district in Chippewa County (near Eau Claire) into Kind's district, while Duffy picks up GOP-leaning St. Croix County across the border from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. But again, that makes Kind safer.
Republicans could also move Democratic-leaning Wood County and Portage County in the southeastern part of Duffy's district into Kind's district and/or Petri's district.

La Crosse County Administrator (Steve O'Malley) Bashes Gov. Walker's Plan In Email To All County Employees; May Have Violated Hatch Act

The LaCrosseWatchdog has obtained an email that La Crosse County Administrator (Steve O'Malley) sent to all La Crosse County employees. The email contained several statements that are clear partisan attacks on Scott Walker and the Republican plan to balance the state budget. It would seem that Steve O'Malley may be in violation of the Hatch Act which prohibits civil servants including state and local who's departments receive federal funding  (23% of the 2010 county budget came from federal/state revenues) from engaging in partisan political activity  while:

  • on duty
  • using government resources (email)
  • in a government office
  • wearing an official uniform
  • using a government vehicle
Judge for yourself. Here is a PDF version that you can view more clearly or print off. Below is a scanned picture of the email. Also below is a reprint of the text of the email. This email might lead some La Crosse County residents to file an ethics complaint against O'Malley. Similar to the complaint that was brought against La Crosse Mayor, Matt Harter.

From: Steve O'Malley
Sent: Thursday, February 24, 2011 3:13 PM
To: All Downtown County Employees; All Remote County Employees
Subject: State budget impacts

Fellow County employees:

I'm sure that many of you are following the events in Madison closely and are concerned about the implications for the future of County employment and services.

Last week on Thursday and then on Monday, the County Board approved one year agreements with all bargaining units for a 0% increase in wages, 0% in Health Insurance premiums, and no change in any other major compensation item, including pension contributions by the County. This is the same proposal that the County presented in September and is assumed in our 2011 Budget. It is our understanding that the employees covered by these agreements will not be effected by the increased pension contribution proposed by the governor during the term of the contract.

These contracts only provide sometime, they will not change the effect of the Governor's changes in the long term if adopted by the legislature. It seems clear that regardless of bargaining history, employees will be required by State Law to contribute to pension costs at the expiration of the contract and non-union staff will be impacted as soon as the law is made effective. The County Board has asked Administrative staff to present options to consider for non-union staff for 2011 to the March Executive committee meeting.

These are among the most challenging times most of us will ever see in public service. Counties and our employees did not cause the State deficit and I do not support the State forcing unilateral changes of employment upon us without our input. In particular, I do not believe there is any justification for eliminating most collective bargaining rights for public employees. And I do not support requiring pension contributions from general employees, while asking nothing more of those in protective service.

The greatest uncertainty now is about the Governor's full Budget bill for the next biennium, which is now supposed to be released on March 1st. Due to the complexity of the County budget and multiple impacts that happen from the State Budget, it will take 2-3 weeks for the analysis to identify the specific impact on La Crosse County. When we have more information and clarity on the size of the financial challenge confronting us, we will conduct several employee meetings to share that information and answer questions. I decided not to begin these meetings now, since there is still so much unknown until the Governor releases his budget proposal.

The link below will take you to the power point slide presentation I provided to the County Board and Department Heads, that summarizes what we know at the present time. http://laxtlc/cgiwin/auth/$Launch.dll?Timer=YES&CourseCode=CABUDGETBILL&LessonNumber=l

I am proud of the work that this organization does for our community. While we have known for sometime that the impacts of the State Budget will be severe, I do not believe the current approach that attacks public employees is appropriate or deserved. I will continue to do everything I can to look out for the best interest of maintaining quality services as much as possible, while communicating with you about the potential impacts and changes being imposed by the State government on La Crosse County.

WI Senator Glen Grothman Heckled and Mobbed By Protesters in Madison

EXCLUSIVE : PLANS ANNOUNCED TO PROTEST GOVERNOR WALKER’S VISIT TO VIROQUA

LaCrosseWatchdog has learned of plans to protest Gov Walker's appearance in Viroqua on Thursday. Here is the agenda for the event that Walker is coming to. Interestingly they plan to wear cow suits for the protest. The protest is scheduled to begin at 8:15 at the Firehouse Restaurant, 804 S. Main Street (along Hwy. 14/61 and S.R. Drive) Viroqua, WI.

The LaCrosse Tribune and Sustain Rural Wisconsin Network, an environmental organization, are reporting that Senator Kapanke, Rep. Nerison, and possibly Gov. Walker are scheduled to speak at the Firehouse Restaurant this Thursday, March 3, at an event put on by CAFE, Citizens for Agriculture and Friends of the Environment. This will be CAFE’s  third annual ‘Food, Fuel and Future Summit’.

Cow suits and signs will be made available for those interested in protesting Governor Walker’s bill at the CAFÉ gathering. You can write your own message. These items will be available in the Firehouse Restaurant’s driveway at 804 S. Main Street just south of Viroqua at 8:15 A.M. before the CAFÉ gathering.
