"Prohibited Video" Of Audrey Kader Recall Debate

Keith Knutson
Tonight Viterbo University hosted a debate for the city council candidates in the Recall race of La Crosse City President Audrey Kader. I was denied media credentials for LaCrosseWatchdog by flaming statist professor Keith Knutson and told I couldn't film the debate, even though the local CBS affiliate WKBT was allowed to video record the debate. This is not the first time LaCrosseWatchdog bloggers have been harassed for trying to film a public political debate at a University in La Crosse. http://www.lacrossewatchdog.org/search?q=debate

Thanks to La Crosse Tea Party members in the audience LaCrosseWatchdog was able to obtain a "prohibited" recording of the debate (video below). A policy of denying a city council debate open to the public from being filmed is an outrage! While selectively choosing what media outlet is allowed to film. I believe anytime government officials get together and discuss public policy the public has a right to record it.

The recording serves as a record of what actually happened. No way for the mainstream media to manipulate the covering of what actually was said. Being able to record your government is a right that needs to be exercised and LaCrosseWatchdog will continue to hold those in power accountable.

Recall of Audrey Kader About Principles -Chistie Hintz

Below is a letter to the editor for the La Crosse Tribune from Tea Party member Christie Hintz. The Tribune refused to print the letter because it was pasted their deadline for letters for the primary election on Tuesday. Tuesday's election is still five days away.

I am deeply saddened by the Audrey Kader recall. There are good citizens of La Crosse that are fighting to preserve our freedom of speech and our ability to let our grievances be known to our city council members. This is not a petty attack on Audrey's personal character or hard work that she has done for city council. But it is a disagreement with Audrey's principles on government and the extra fees that have been put on the citizens of La Crosse. It is true, taxes in La Crosse have not gone up - just added fees. Either way, its money out of pockets. What's even more important to me are the restrictions of our freedoms that we see everywhere in our government from the Federal to State and at our local level. We decided to stand for our rights, the first amendment, at the local level. I believe in the constitution and its principals, even at the local level. I believe in the Republic, not democracy, where each individual has certain rights granted to them by their Creator, not rights granted to them by any individual to be heard or not. If it takes too much time of your life to hear the public, then maybe this isn't the job for you.

Respectfully, Christie Hintz

La Crosse Mayor Matt Harter Won't Run For Second Term

Just got out of La Crosse Mayor Matt Harter's press conference where he announced he won't run for a second term.

This is a huge blow to the city! The Mayor has been the only one in city government yelling STOP! For all the bad policies the La Crosse City Council has been coming up with. Issuing 28 vetos over his 4 year term. All but 6 of them have been overridden by the tax, spend, and regulate city council.

Expect to see La Crosse GOP chairmen Julian Bradly announcing a run for Mayor soon. There is already a facebook page up. Another possible conservative option would be retired Council member Jim Bloedorn, who now resides on the southside. Mr Bloedorn would be my top choice. He knows the city issues better then anyone and he has the conservative voting record to merit my support. Maybe a campaign to draft him is in order?

Expect to see former La Crosse Mayor John Medinger decide to run again representing the liberal faction running city council. He recently wrote a column in the La Crosse Trib outlining what he thinks is wrong with the city. Herb Kohl, his current boss has already hinted that Medinger is thinking about running. Medinger will have a billionaire Senator backing his campaign. If he decides to run it will be hard to see how anyone other then Matt Harter could beat him.

La Crosse Tea Party Members Speak Out Against Wheel Tax.

Last night the La Crosse County Public Works Board discussed adding a $ 10 wheel tax to vehicle registration for La Crosse residents. A few La Crosse Tea Party members spoke out against the proposal.
